'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful effort from outside the box, and his teammate quickly hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the home end to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an extraordinary recovery given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second half. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Starting Out

It has been a remarkable path for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to interact with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
